The 18 year Hakushu is the second oldest whisky in production from Hakushu (Suntory). It is one of our favourites, and nestled between age statements of 12 Yrs; and 25 Yrs. It is revered and an accessible whisky to have in your collection. The maturity of it really shows the elegance and carries the Hakushu expression with style. The taste of fruit with a hint of smoke shows the tranquility of this fine whisky
It remains very fresh but when compared to the 25 Yrs Hakushu it is not as dark and missing the fruity plum flavour.
Hakushu Distillery was established in 1973 and is the younger brother of Yamazaki. If you have not heard of Haksuhu, it is one to visit and try. It is referred to as the forest distillery of Suntory, as it is situated in at the foot of Mount Kaikoma and surrounded by lush forest.
