'The Distillery' - Edition 2 - Riverbourne
With the success of Edition 1 of the 'Distillery', it was ready to bottle the next cask for the independent bottling range. This was a special cask selection, as this cask was distilled on the same date of the birth of one of our director's daughters. This is a very complex and flavoursome whisky.
The 50L barrel has yielded 102 bottles and it has been made with barley from NSW. The cask is French Oak which previously had Red Wine from the Napa Valley, California. They have been scraped, re-charred and re-coopered. Then Virgin American Oak ends are used on the heads. This combination cask allows no dominant factor of the timber to overcome the delicious flavour of the spirit.
This will be released on Saturday, 08 Aug 2020 and we be sold at $195 a bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Red Gold
Nose: Vibrantly fruity nose with Plum and cherries. Toffee rolls in, then Caramelised Fig.
Palate: Juicy flavour of fruit and caramel. Light Oak and then Spice grows in the back palate of black peppercorns.
Finish: Medium finish with sweetness and cherries dropping off, leaving a peppery reminder.
