Grumpy old Man on Hill is the first peated whisky from Craft Works Distillery and another independent bottling. The spirit was produced at Riverbourne Distillery and made with imported peated barley from Scotland. As you can guess the Grumpy old Man is meant to be Martin Pye (Owner and Distillery of Riverbourne Distillery).
When it comes to peated whisky this is some of the best produced in Australia. It was matured in American Oak, ex bourbon barrel.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Straw
Nose: Mild sweet honey with some cereal starts the aroma, then smoke and a kick of peat.
Palate: The flavour of peat grows, with under tones of malt and some biscuit.
Finish: Long finish of peat which slowly drops off to reveal some final honey.
