Blue Zero One is another independent bottling from Craft Works Distillery and using spirit from Riverbourne Distillery. This has been matured for two and half years in a 100L Ex-Wine Barrel which has been seasoned in sherry.
The dried fruits are evident within this young whisky, with small aromas of Tobacco and pepper.
As always, the labels from Craft Works are very catchy and this one shows the icons on the bottom of the bottle of: Craig Fields (the Distiller); Andrew Young (the Cooper); Todd Poynter (aka the Apprentice's Apprentice); Andrea Fields; Kathy Poynter and the Vat Man.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Old Tawny
Nose: Warming aroma which tapers to reveal dried fruits and a hint of Tobacco.
Palate: Sweet molasses and dried prunes fill the flavour. Undertone of pepper grows in the back palate and continues to build.
Finish: The growth of spice shapes the finish, leaving a peppery reminder and subtle dried fruits.
