The 25 year Hakushu is the oldest whisky matured in the distillery of Hakushu (Suntory). The long maturation process has produced a dark amber colour which keeps the signature freshness; sweet caramel; and fruity plum flavour. The subtle smoke remains light for the finish, rounding off a complex and complete whisky.
Hakushu is the younger brother of Yamazaki and if you have not heard of Haksuhu, I am sure you would after Haksuhu 25 Years was awarded the ‘World’s Best Single Malt’ by the World Whisky Awards this year (2018). In addition to the recent award, Hakushu 25 Years has trophy cabinet full of accolades.
Yamazaki has been in the spot light and always a fan favourite; but the Chief Blender of Suntory Shinji Fukuyo, has helped Hakushu ascend to the spotlight. If you have not tried this yet, I highly recommend it.

Palate: Creme brulee, sage, lavender, baked pineapple

Hakushu was first established in established in 1973 and it is the forest distillery of Suntory in Japan. The grounds are kept lush and surrounded by Japanese cypress from Mt. Kaikomagatake. At Hakushu they have 6 Wash Stills and 6 Spirit Stills. The Spirit here produces the Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve (standard), 12 Yr, 18 Yr, 25 Yr, Heavily Peated and Sherry Cask.
